9 Signs You Should Start or Continue Your Online Therapist-Based Business - Your Kid's Table

9 Signs You Should Start or Continue Your Online Therapist-Based Business

Looking back on my career, I can see that I always had an independent streak. I liked to set my own schedule and be my own boss, as much as possible.

For years, I wondered how I could have even more freedom. The thought of starting a private practice was totally overwhelming, and even though I looked into it, my gut told me that wasn’t the next step for me.

Then one day a phone call broke the camel’s back.

It was from a former client and she said as I answered the phone, “What do you feed your kids? I don’t know what else to be giving Oliver. I can’t keep giving him yogurt and mac and cheese all the time!”.

Sounds like a simple question, but something shifted in me because she was probably that 312th person to ask me a therapy related question that I couldn’t answer the way I wanted to in under a minute or two.

I did my best, and while she was thrilled with my response, I knew there was so much more I wanted to say that would be really make a difference for her.

I hung up the phone and can still remember where I was standing in the kitchen when the thought popped in my mind, “Maybe I should start a blog?”

Mind you I had no idea what a blog really was. Or, if I could monetize it so I could justify taking time away from my 2 very young kids at the time to work on one.

I tracked down my techie friends and suddenly realized this was a very real possibility. But, I was scared to death. I doubted, changed my mind, and almost decided not to do it many times over!

Thank God, I didn’t!

Your Kid’s Table, the blog and now full online business, has drastically changed my life since 2012. I’ve been able to work part-time so that I’m present with my kids when I want and need to be.

I’ve even been able to retire my husband (as of March 2018) so that he could help me run the ever growing business, and this year hire an incredible OT to help too.

As therapists, teachers, and other human services professionals, we have a special gift to offer the world as experts in our field. We have insider knowledge that is actually hard to find online and many people need the tips, tools, and strategies that you have!

So, this might sound crazy, but I’ve got to ask…

Have you ever thought of starting an online business where you can share your expert knowledge with the world?

Maybe you have or are even in the works right now, wondering how to make it happen and pull it together, if it’s all worth it and possible for you too.

I know a lot about the doubting. I doubted myself for years, wondering if I was doing what I should be doing. I’ll tell you that it didn’t help much, so I want to give you something that will because I think you could be holding the strategy or tip that could change somebody else’s life forever.

Your special message, perspective, and strategies are unique. And, that’s exactly what people need.
